Dr. Edward M. Petrosky, Psy.D. is a psychologist who conducts organizational consultation and corporate staff training and development. Dr. Petrosky utilizes his insight into people, relationships, and group dynamics to help companies hire, develop, and retain the best leaders and employees. His services include helping organizations conduct more effective hiring interviews, increase staff motivation and morale, increase staff alignment with organization mission and vision, and create an optimal corporate culture. He brings 13 years of experience promoting professional achievement and personal development.
In addition, Dr. Petrosky is a psychologist who leverages the science and art of assessment to promote individual and organizational growth and development. Dr. Petrosky believes that assessment is a dynamic process. Assessment creates dialogues and sparks self reflection. The feedback from a well executed assessment provides the basis for conversations that build performance, engagement, commitment, and morale. In this manner, assessment becomes intervention. Dr. Petrosky’s approach is defined by his comprehensiveness, attention to detail, and focus on practical recommendations. In short, Dr. Petrosky translates insight into action.
Dr. Petrosky’s extensive experience with assessment includes:
- Assessing organizational alignment with the mission statement
- Building statistical models to predict and improve retention
- Conducting psychological testing for executive development and succession planning
- Creating performance based outcome measures to evaluate the effectiveness of service delivery
- Assessing job candidates to determine their ability to meet specific job demands
Dr. Petrosky’s work in assessment is informed by his experience as a teacher, mentor, and researcher. He has conducted research on such topics as the ability of psychological tests to detect “positive impression management” (i.e. presenting an unrealistically favorable image), negative thinking and pessimism, and core belief systems that drive behavior. His research has been published in peer reviewed scientific journals. Dr. Petrosky has taught 11 different psychology courses, including teaching personality and emotional intelligence assessment to graduate students in Industrial / Organizational Psychology. Dr. Petrosky’s recent interests include being a site evaluator for the New York State Psychological Healthy Workplace Award, in which he assessed the extent to which organizations create cultures, policies, and procedures that boost morale, job satisfaction, and the overall emotional well-being of their employees. Dr. Petrosky also specializes in dyslexia / learning disability testing and has testified as an expert witness in the legal arena.
Dr. Petrosky is an active member in multiple professional organizations, including the American Psychological Association, New York State Psychological Association (NYSPA), Queens Chamber of Commerce, Society for Personality Assessment, and International Dyslexia Association. For the Queens Chamber of Commerce, he serves on the Business & Industry, Workforce Development & Job Investment, and Public Health, Safety and Environment Committees.
